WHERE IT GROWTH: Black Ebony Seyhan, Samanta and Bombayda, Brown Ebony The ebony tree, which grows in Makasar Island, has red brown lines on a dark ground close to black. This type of ebony tree is better known by the name of Makasar.
STRUCTURE: The belly is woody. The outer wood is broad. It is finely porous. The pore pits are filled with a unique substance. It makes very decorative line and vein patterns.
COLOR: The outer wood is pink gray or pale red brown. The inner wood is black. It has irregular, light and dark colored veins.
FEATURES: It is very suitable for hard production. It shows superior strength properties in changing weather conditions. As it dries it shrinks a lot and cracks. Dust from sanding irritates the eyes and respiratory organs.
WEIGHT OF USE: The specific weight of air-dried scissors is 1.10 gr/cm3.
USAGE: It is used in the production of high-value and expensive furniture, ornamental elements. It is also used for the same purpose in interior architecture. It is especially sought after in lathed and inlaid works, musical instruments, furniture and door handles, carved works, and knife handles. It is generally used as coating in Turkey.
