Coins from the Roman and Ottoman empires have been found among the ruins of Katsuren Castle on the Japanese island of Okinawa.
According to the news in Habertürk; Excavations in the ruins of Katsuren Castle since 2013 have found 10 coins from the Roman and Ottoman empires.
"I couldn't believe the coins were real, I thought they were replicas dropped by tourists," said Hirokiyi Miyagi of the University of Okinawa, where the coins were taken for examination. However, when you look at it using X-Ray, you can see the carvings on the coins more clearly.
Miyagi, as a result of his research, said that one of the coins belonging to the Ottoman period had 1687 written on it, and that the coins from the Roman Empire belonged to the years 300-400 AD.
